SAC LIBRARY

Location

St Athanasius College (SAC) Library is located at 100 Park Road, Donvale, Victoria. The Librarian is Deborah Decru (librarian@sac.edu.au). If you would like to use the library, please contact Deborah by email. Students enrolled at St Athanasius College should contact the SAC Librarian for all library-related enquiries.

The library’s print collection is small but specific, with a focus on the Coptic Orthodox Church and the wider Orthodox tradition. Subject areas include the early church, patristics, biblical studies, and theology. The collection also holds resources relevant to the study units being taught.

The library is currently open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday by appointment.
The library is open to all staff and students at SAC and other Colleges of the University of Divinity. There is also a reciprocal borrowing arrangement with the University of Melbourne.

Library Hub and Library Catalogue
Go to the Library Hub Home page search bar to find resources in the Library Hub and the SAC Library. Use the dropdown lists in the top banner to find databases and journals, useful guides, and special collections.

Signing in at the top right of the Library Hub screen is not required for searching but is useful to keep track of your search and borrowing history. To set your password, use your student number and click the Set/Reset Password button.

Searching
The Library Hub is a portal to the online and print resources of the UD libraries. To change the default settings for a search, use the filters/facets to the left of the search results to select, for example, St Athanasius College Library – or another library – for print resources, or choose an alternative format, author, subject, etc. To use your chosen filters for subsequent searches, tick the Retain Filters box at the top left of the search results screen. For more information about using the Library Hub, see Additional resources below.

Your login details to access the online resources you select from the results of a search – eBooks, journal articles, etc. – are the same as those used to access Paradigm.

Print holdings
The print holdings of the UD libraries participating in the shared catalogue arrangement (including the SAC Library) are detailed in the full record of an item, accessed by clicking on the title in the brief record that appears as the result of a search. Note also that there may be links to another edition of the title below the brief record, which may be useful if the described edition is not available to you.

The full record provides further information about the resource, including contents, and a link (scroll to the bottom) to the holdings information of other UD, local, and international libraries. If an eBook is available, a red “View eBook” button will appear on the brief record.

Databases
The ATLA databases containing online articles relevant to your search will appear in the banner at the bottom of the page. The banner can be closed using the arrow and opened using the red keypad at the bottom right of the screen. Click on the database title to go to the search results within the database. Other databases to which the UD libraries subscribe will be searched automatically by default. They can also be selected individually as part of the filtering process on the left.

Course Reserves
You can find items from your unit’s bibliography in the Course Reserves, accessed from the Shared Services drop-down list on the Library Hub Home screen, or the Course Reserves button at the top left of the search results screen. These lists include both online and print resources. Please contact the SAC Librarian for assistance in finding additional resources for assignments.
