About the Symposium

St Athanasius College (SAC) and the University of Divinity (UD) will co-host an international symposium themed COPTS IN MODERNITY from the evening of Friday 13 – 16 July 2018 in Melbourne. The symposium will focus on the history of the Coptic Church and community between the 18th and 21st centuries.

Venue

This international event will be held at SAC’s new city campus, offering state-of-the-art facilities in central Melbourne. Located in Eporo Tower on level three, 285 La Trobe St, Melbourne, it is nestled in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD just 100 metres away from the Melbourne Central Train Station, and conveniently located near city transportation, hotel accommodation, and the airport.

Photo Exhibition and Bookstore

A photo exhibition of Modernity Treasures will be on display at the symposium showcasing photographic gems from Coptic Egypt’s modern era. There will also be a bookstall featuring a range of publications by the symposium delegates.

Official Dinner

In honour of our delegates and participants, SAC will be hosting an official dinner on the evening of Sunday 15 July 2018. The registration fee includes the cost of the dinner.

Symposium Fees (inclusive 13-16 July) – $200 (non-students) – $180 (students) Please note that spaces to attend the symposium are limited, so please register as soon as possible to ensure your attendance.
