This unit will be offered in blended mode. Online (synchronous and asynchronous) engagement will begin from the start of Semester on Monday 21 February and then mandatory face to face classes on Saturday 26 March, Saturday 7 May, Saturday 4 June from 9am-3pm. Face to face classes will take place at SAC’s city campus (Eporo).

This unit will explore the nature and role of teenage and youth ministry in the Orthodox Church. Students will reflect on the aims of teenage and youth ministry and develop a strong philosophy of teenage and youth ministry in 21st century Australia. The unit will also explore the key skills and leadership qualities needed for ministering to teenagers and youth.

  • Discuss the implications of the Orthodox understanding of ministry on teenage and youth ministry today
  • Examine the generational profile of teenagers and youth today
  • Explore and evaluate ministry strategies appropriate to the needs of teenagers and youth
  • Formulate a range of initiatives for teenage and youth ministry
